Now I’m holding the gun

The dog barked downstairs into the dark

He became alert and fear crept in

He indulged and let the stories unfold

The door slowly slid open

Dog silent for some reason


The dark figure shifted through the kitchen

Floated up the stairs and through the door

He lay there frozen as he sensed the figure

Melting, looking face to mask

He laughed and grabbed the gun pointing at him

Placing the cold metal in his warm mouth

He spoke through muffled vibrations

The figure paused…

Removed the mask and …
