The Bookshop Sessions #12

The other night, I was wandering through

Lost in the town that has no clue a water bearer lifts up her son. In the middle of the market

She stands tall

so tall

That when the chin lifts my wind up

I catch a whiff of her cycling through the trees

Her smell is rooted so deep

Oh I’m just a kid

Losing his religion

For the settlers ain’t got no love and the ambassadors watch the towns crumble

It’s a sound I’ve heard around

Split tongues, vertical eyes

Cutting through your ventricle

Oh I’m just a kid

Maybe life will be just one great sleep

For the sadness in your eyes is living you

And it takes the fee of life to be

Oh you may love in circles, but even donuts have nothing in their hearts….empty of

Oh I’m just banging my feet…

Riding this dilla beat back to her thighs

As the oldies outside open windows

Look in

Look in,

and you’ll find

One single goblin

Sat on a lotus leaf

Living a whole life

Before your eyes

Where he dies

as you pluck the lapis from his throat

Lucky you,

Coz’ yesterday the dolphins danced on her lower back, and now her knees look like mushy peas

Oh I’m just a kid

So in the name of degrees

I freeze not in the face of justice

And with this whiskey,

I ask just ice

Frozen in my desires

A dark fire starts this journey again

illuminating the corner by the piano

Where John sits, frozen never

as his fingers bleed,

for blood

It never sleeps

blood

it never sleeps

and I’m just a kid

Can you feel it in your feet

The stone I left

In your right shoe

So that when you step

To the beat

You’d remember

What it's like

To feel the beach

beneath your toes

So I’m just a kid

That coldness knows

So when these old bones pull you in

Hold on dearly to this changing embrace

As the shardy winds cut through

may our hands hold onto the near and few miles left of…a warm touch

I’m just a kid

Who learns to love a falling leaf

Like the birds that rest on these shouldies

They sing a song I can’t make,

it sounds so much like you

and you

and I

For time will steal away

When the petals turn to ash

And the ashes lose its way in the wind

Forgetting its kinship to the soil

Oh I’m no longer a kid

Since I met you

Everything has changed

I’ve started to remember time and

what it feels to step away in autumn

Forever between the lines

So listen up you kids

Hear the silent voice calling

Slowly inward it turns

Into the scene you imagine

Relentlessly plaguing your sleep

But what if the dreams sewn deeply in

could be

For this world needs only three

Willing to dive deep into

The scenes beneath that seek release

And if the deceased could speak

Wouldn’t anger be beautiful

When spoken to

Oh kids

May your well open

When you speak to the few

May your eyes break through

And allow whatever chooses to fall

For when we gather round these well built walls we see that

Together through the pain

We shall rise

Together through the pain

We shall rise

We

shall rise
